The NYISO is responsible for the reliable operation of New York’s nearly 11,000 miles of high-voltage transmission and the dispatch of over 500 electric power generators. The PJM Interconnection operates a competitive wholesale electricity market and manages the reliability of its transmission grid across nearly 244,000 square miles of high voltage transmission and the dispatch of 1,000 electric power generators. In managing the grid, PJM centrally dispatches generation and coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania & 10 other states.
